Foods to avoid with Bad Kidneys!


Food is necessary for us to maintain our overall health, but sometimes food also stands poor for us. Therefore, due to pollution in the environment, everything is infected, and diseased, so we should be consumed only those food items which stand best for us, especially, for a person with kidney disease or kidney failure.  

Kidney diseases are very common because of an unhealthy environment, and food items. There are two main causes of kidney disease – one is diabetes, and the second one is high blood pressure, but both of them mostly happen due to unhealthy food. In this blog, we have covered all the food items which are bad for a kidney patient. 

Following are the food items and substances a person with bad kidneys should avoid consuming. 

1. A kidney patient cannot consume protein –  Protein is an essential substance for our body, but it may not best for a kidney patient because it put pressure on your already damaged kidneys. Kidney works to filter waste materials, and toxins from the blood, and then eliminate them through urine. When the kidneys are not healthy enough or infected, then they may not hold protein to leak out in the urine. A high amount of protein in the urine is known as Proteinuria, which is a symptom or cause of kidney disease or kidney failure. 

In case you notice protein in your urine, then cut back on the food items which are high in protein, for instance, red meat, dairy products, eggs, lean meat, poultry, fish, seeds, nuts, and soy products like tofu. 

2. A kidney patient cannot consume sodium – High blood pressure is one of the leading causes of kidney disease or kidney failure. Blood pressure mostly increases due to a high amount of salt in the food. Salt is a source of sodium. It is vital for a person with kidney-related problems and high blood pressure to avoid using salt in their food. Yes, we know without salt anyone can eat food, then for taste, you can use lemon juice, and other sources of citric acid to increase the taste of food. 

A kidney patient should avoid eating following sources of sodium – 

• Smoked, cured, salted or canned products, for instance, meat, fish or poultry 
• Frozen meats
• Canned entrees like ravioli, spam, and chili.
• Salted nuts
• Beans canned with salt added

3. A kidney patient cannot consume Phosphorus - Healthy kidneys can remove extra phosphorus from our blood. When a person with chronic kidney disease consumes phosphorus, then it put pressure on his/her weak kidneys. High phosphorus levels damage to your body and can pull calcium out of your bones, making them weak.

1. Butter – Yes, a kidney patient cannot consume delicious and soft butter because it is made of animal fat. It contains cholesterol, high fat, and calorie, which harm the kidneys. Margarine is a kind of butter made of vegetable oil, which contains good quality fat, but Tran’s fat is found in it which is healthy for the kidneys. Therefore, instead of butter, the patients can use canola and olive oil because both of these things are not harmful to your kidneys. If you do not eat healthy food, then it may cause kidney failure. 3. Frozen meals - Frozen food products, for instance, pizza cause type 2 diabetes. Frozen meals are packed with sugar and salt, which may increase your diabetes or blood pressure. It is not compulsory that all frozen meals are packed with sugar and salt, therefore, you need to be careful while buying frozen meals; check its label, and take those things in which the amount of sugar and salt is reduced. 4. Mayonnaise - A spoon of mayonnaise has 103 calories, and it is also high in fat. However, low-fat mayonnaise is also available in the market, but it is high in sodium and sugar, which may increase blood sugar and blood pressure. Therefore, use yogurt instead of mayonnaise, which is far more beneficial than mayonnaise. 
5. Soda – There are no nutrients in soda because it is packaged with sugar, which is chemically made. Soda also increases calories in your food, which can increase your weight. Yes, you may be thinking about food soda, but let us tell you food soda may be low in calories, but still no provide specific nutrients.
